Biography

Born in the 1980s, Mister Numz grew up in a family where music played an important part. His parents had a (cover) band together with his uncles and aunt(s). Because of this Mister Numz grew up with different styles of music. Almost all genres came along, from soul and funk to country and pop to rock and reggae. Being of South-Moluccan heritage, the traditional Moluccan music also played an integral part in his upbringing.

At the age of eight, Mister Numz learned the basics of how to play the guitar and quickly implemented his newly achieved skills in the family band.

At the age of eleven, Mister Numz came into contact with hip hop. The album 2Pacalypse now from 2pac was the seed that was planted and the culmination of the so-called “golden era” became his foundation. Soon after when Mister Numz was 14 he wrote his first rhymes and at the age of sixteen, Mister Numz met G da Kid. They started writing and creating songs together, which soon evolved into performing these lyrics and freestyling to master the art of articulation.

Mister Numz made writing lyrics a priority and came into contact with local artists Tiwan and Daxtreme. Under the name 'TRP' they traveled all through the north of the Netherlands, performing their local hits 'Pof em' and 'Corona party', filling local dance floors. In 2005 the members of TRP went their seperate ways. Numz stayed heavilly focused on writing lyrics, but because of personal cirumstances, was forced to stay under the hip hop radar.

In 2010 however, Mister Numz ran into his old childhood neighbour JustRon. After a few meetings the plan was forged to enter the studio as a duo, working on their studio- and stageperformance. This created a way for Mister Numz to get back on the hip hop radar and this culminated in a working relationship with producer & rapper Sunda. Mister Numz quickly accepted Sunda's offer to join the supergroup Bawah Tanah, a group with members from all around the world, with the maingroup located in Mister Numz's hometown. Many tracks were recorded and a performance at the first edition of the “people before likes” fundraiser was a fitting reward for all the hard work the group put in. After a succesfull radioperformance at local radioshow Dangerzone, Mister Numz was again forced to withdraw from music.

In 2020 Mister Numz & JustRon decided to pick it up again and started the group 'Rapmedians' together with G da Kid. This group now consists of JustRon, Mister Numz, G da Kid with Soul Rebel as affiliate member. On December 25th 2021 they released the album Mister Numz presents : Rapmedians Raw & Uncut on all streamingservices. After this release the Rapmedians decided to part ways and focus on solo endeavours.

In May 2021 Mister Numz formed the duo 'TAHURI' with R&B singer June. Their first single Identity was released on September 25th 2021. Unfortunately TAHURI was forced to come to an end because of work ethic differences.

Mister Numz has gained his studio experience at, among others, Studio Boterdiep, FTouch studio & Bawah Tanah Studio. Here he has worked with renowned producers such as Reef, MxNoiz, Sunda, Mario Likumahuwa & Martijn de Bot. Other notable mentions are Gino Wiegers, Lucky 7 and DJ Z-Rota.  Mister Numz has been active as a rapper/songwriter for over 25 years. Many songs have been written and recorded together with groups TRP, Bawah Tanah, Rapmedians & TAHURI.

There have also been many performances with TRP & Bawah Tanah, in which Mister Numz mentions being the support act for the group 'Arnhemsgewijs' as a personal highlight.

Starting from December 2022 Mister Numz released a string of singles starting with Witness. July 2023 marks the official month when the first solo-album from Mister Numz was released : Act of Intelligence!

In October 2023 Act of Intelligence reached a total streaming revenue on Spotify 78.000 streams.
